as AXJ810-TH—with creep and

ignition resistance due to calcium

addition. The ongoing quest

to improve fuel economy in the

automotive sector will also continue

to generate renewed interest in

lightweight materials.

In the biomedical field,

thermomechanically processed

Mg is expected to find additional

applications external to the

body. The bioabsorbable BioMg

250 will now enter a sequence

of larger animal tests and

clinical studies leading to FDA

approval. Commercialization

of a bioabsorbable Mg alloy

that features the mechanical

properties of metals as well as

safe, predictable bioabsorption

rates will benefit the orthopedic

medical practice.
