The purpose of this award is to recog- nize leadership at an early stage and encourage individuals to grow, nurture, and further contribute to the growth of the profession, as well as the Society. Bronze Medal Award Mr. Daniel Grice, senior materi- als engineer, Materials Evaluation and Engineering Inc., Plymouth, Minn., will receive this year’s award “for endur- ing contributions to ASM International through the Emerging Professionals Committee and the Failure Analysis Society, and the enthusiastic prom- ulgation of materials engineering technology.” Prof. Victoria Mayne Miller, assistant professor, University of Flor- ida, Gainesville, will receive this year’s award “for contributions bridging mechanisms of mesoscale dislocation plasticity with macroscale process- ing science in a wide variety of alloy systems, and for her devotion to the education and training of students.” Established in 2014, the honor recog- nizes ASM members who are in early-career positions, typi- cally 0 to 10 years of experience, for significant contributions in the field of materials science and engineering through technical content and service to ASM and the materials sci- ence profession. Bradley Stoughton Award for Young Teachers Prof. Abdallah Elsayed, assistant professor, University of Guelph, Can- ada, will receive this year’s award “for a unique and outstanding track record, delivering academic knowledge and real-world industrial experience in classrooms and research laboratories of materials science and engineering.” This award, accompanied by $3000, was established in 1952 in memory of an outstanding teacher in metal- lurgy and dean of engineering who was president of ASM in 1942. The award recognizes young teachers of materials science, materials engineering, and design and processing, by rewarding them for their ability to impart knowledge and enthusiasm to students. The recipient must be 35 years of age or younger by May 15 of the year in which the award is made. Henry Marion Howe Medal P.E. Aba-Perea, P.J. Withers, T. Pirling, A. Parad- owska, D. Ma, and M. Preuss will receive this year’s award for their paper entitled “In Situ Study of the Stress Relax- ation During Aging of Nickel-Base Superalloy Forgings,” Met. Trans. A, Vol. 50, 2019. The award was established in 1923 in memory of a distinguished teacher, metallurgist, and con- sultant, to honor the author(s) whose paper was selected as the best of those published in a specific volume of Metallur- gical and Materials Transactions. 2020 AWARD PROGRAM RECIPIENTS Grice Miller Elsayed Aba-Perea Withers Pirling Paradowska Ma Preuss Marcus A. Grossmann Young Author Award Mr. Taylan Gunes is recognized for his paper entitled “Magneto-mech- anical Effect on the Magnetic Proper- ties and Microstructures in Nano- crystalline Fe-Cu-Nb-Si-B Alloys,” Met. Trans. A, Vol. 50, 2019. The award was established in 1960 in recognition of Dr. Grossmann’s accomplishments and especially his abiding interest and encouragement of younger metallur- gists and materials engineers. Gunes
