HIGHLIGHTS ADVANCED MATERIALS & PROCESSES | JULY 2026 56 CHAPTERS IN THE NEWS Cleveland Awards Night and Trustee Visit The ASM Cleveland Chapter hosted its annual Awards Night and Trustee Visit on May 18 at the ASM headquarters and geodesic dome. With 60 attendees, the evening brought together members, students, professionals, and guests for a celebration of excellence within the materials community. Chiragkumar Raval, the Chapter’s vice chair, received the President’s Award. He will assume the role of chair for the 2026-2027 term. Steve Kowalski accepted the 2026 Cleveland Technical Societies Council’s Robert B. Cummings Distinguished Leadership Award on behalf of Kowalski Heat Treating. The Chapter also honored outstanding students from the Northeast Ohio Science & Engineering Fair. Prof. Hanchen Huang, FASM, ASM board trustee and dean of engineering, architecture and technology at Oklahoma State University, delivered a technical talk on “Metallic Glue: Science, Technology & Commercialization.” The event was sponsored by PerkinElmer Inc., whose team was present with a tabletop display. The evening’s networking was accompanied by an Indian buffet dinner. Columbia Basin Features ASM President ASM President Elizabeth Hoffman, FASM, was the featured guest at a May 21 meeting of the ASM Columbia Basin Chapter. During the event, Hoffman presented an update on ASM International’s vision, mission, and current initiatives. She also discussed how to get involved in committees, attend conferences, and sign up for education offerings.
