Graham, of Chadds Ford, Pa., foundingmember of the ASMBrandywine Val- ley Chapter (BVC) in 1956, passed away on May 6, 2020. He served as Chapter chair in 1968-1969 and 2007-2008, and was an Executive Committee member for many years. Graham joined the DuPont Company in Wilmington, Del., as a research metallurgist after earning a Ph.D. in metal- lurgy under Prof. Harold Reed at the Pennsylvania State University. His patent for diamond-filled electroless coatings, initially used to produce small, highly wear resistant machine parts for the rapidly growing DuPont fibers businesses, is still practiced commercially today. Graham’s devel- opments and leadership in high speed electroplating of nickel, gold, and palladium-nickel alloy technology were critical to the success of the Berg Electronics division of DuPont. In 2012 Gra- ham received the BVC President’s Award for his leadership over his 57 years of ASMmembership and in recognition of his instrumental role in the “Rebirth” of the Chapter (1999-2000). With his guidance the Chapter doubled its membership between 1981 and 1985. Conrad “Connie” Mitchell, 94, died on June 18, at his home in Pittsburgh. He was born on May 2, 1926, in Braddock, Pa. He attended Braddock High School, served as an Army sharp- shooter in Austria during World War II and graduated from Carnegie Institute of Technology as a metallurgical engineer. He worked for U. S. Steel Corp. for 40 years. Throughout his career and in retirement, Mitchell was an active member of the Theta Xi Fraternity, Carnegie Mellon Alumni Association, and ASM International, even serving as the ASM Pittsburgh Chapter chair. James V. Pellegrino, Jr., of Plum Borough, Pa., passed away on December 17, 2019, at age 81. He was a renowned failure analysis expert with over 60 years of experience. He trained and worked for many years at United States Steel Research Center, then brought his skills to RJ Lee Group Inc., where he worked for over 18 years, most recently in the role of senior materials consultant. Pellegrino was dedicated to client satisfaction and the advancement of his science. His work was a true passion and Pellegrino continued to work full-time to the end, doing what he loved. Keith Palmer Willett, of Willmet Metallurgical Services, died on February 23, 2019, at age 89. He was born and educated in England and had a long and distinguished career as a metallurgist, retiring from West- inghouse’s Turbine and Generator Division. A resident of Dundas, Ontario, Canada, Willett was a lifetime member of ASM International and a member of the ASM Ontario (Toronto) Chapter. Hornbogen Graham Mitchell Pellegrino IN MEMORIAM
