Lados is credited with significant research contribu- tions in the areas of materials design, characterization, evaluation, and computational modeling for fatigue, fatigue crack growth, and high temperature performance, as well as for her original work in materials processing and advanced manufacturing. She is the recipient of numerous awards and honors, including ASM Fellow–Class of 2017, 2014 TMS Brimacombe Medal, 2014 SAE Ralph R. Teetor Educational Award, 2013 inaugural Constance Tipper Silver Medal from the World Academy of Structural Integrity, 2012 ASM Silver Medal, a “Woman to Watch” in New England for innovation and leadership, an NSF-CAREER Award, and was chosen in 2010 by the National Academy of Engineering to participate in the prestigious Frontiers of Engineering symposia for both exceptional research and innovative education. She has more than 85 publications, 250 technical presentations and invited lectures, and several book and patent contributions. She is a member of several profes- sional societies (including ASM, TMS, Alpha Sigma Mu, Sigma Xi), organized symposia at international conferences, and chaired several committees (including the Metallur- gical and Materials Transactions A Board of Review, Mate- rial Advantage Committee, WPI Chapter of Sigma Xi, and the ASM Central Massachusetts Chapter). Lados serves on ASM’s Awards Policy Committee and is the vice president of Alpha Sigma Mu. Dr. Jason T. Sebastian Nominee for Trustee Dr. Jason T. Sebastian is the pres- ident of QuesTek Innovations LLC, Evanston, Ill., which focuses on com- putational design, development, and insertion of new alloys and materials using Integrated Computational Mate- rials Engineering (ICME) methodol- ogies. Sebastian also serves on the board of directors of QuesTek Europe AB (Stockholm, Sweden), a joint venture formed by QuesTek Innovations LLC and Thermo-Calc Soft- ware AB, which offers ICME modeling and materials design services to the European market. Sebastian is a summa cum laude graduate of the Uni- versity of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign where he earned a B.S. in ceramic engineering and a B.A. in philosophy. After a year of post-graduate study at Cambridge University (Churchill College) with the support of a Winston Churchill Foundation Scholarship, he went on to earn a Ph.D. inmate- rials science and engineering from Northwestern University under the supervision of Prof. David Seidman and with the support of a DOD National Defense Science and Engineering Graduate Fellowship. At QuesTek, Sebastian is focused on overall company growth and management, and on the entire spectrum of commercial and government sponsored alloy modeling, development, and deployment. Since joining QuesTek in 2006, his technical activities have focused on the devel- opment of high strength steels for structural and power transmission applications; precipitation strengthened cobalt-base alloys; alloys for additive manufacturing; non- toxic, high strength/low friction copper-base alloys to replace lead-containing bronzes; a low cost, castable tita- nium alloy; a highly processable nickel-base superalloy; advanced soft magnetic alloys; and other computationally designed alloys. Sebastian has been the author or coauthor on numer- ous technical papers and publications, and holds two patents. His ASM International service includes terms as vice chair (2015-2016), chair (2016-2017), and membership chair (2017-2018) of the Chicago Regional Chapter and a term as Chapter Council Representative for District 13 (2017-2018). BOARD NOMINATIONS Sebastian Official ASM Annual Business Meeting Notice The Annual Business Meeting of members of ASM International will be held in conjunction with MS&T18 on: Monday, October 15 4:00 - 5:00 p.m. Hyatt Regency Columbus The purpose of the ASM Annual Business Meet- ing is the election of officers for the 2018-19 term and transaction of other Society business.
