Nomination Deadline for the 2027 Class of Fellows is Fast Approaching The honor of Fellow of the Society was established to provide recognition to ASM members for distinguished contributions in the field of materials science and engineering, and to develop a broadly based forum for technical and professional leaders to serve as advisors to the Society. Criteria for the Fellow award include: • Outstanding accomplishments in materials science or engineering • Broad and productive achievement in production, manufacturing, management, design, development, research, or education • Ten years of current, continuous ASM membership Deadline for nominations for the class of 2027 is November 30, 2026. ASM Updates Fellow Award Eligibility Requirement To better align with the distinguished nature of the ASM Fellow Award, the ASM Board of Directors has approved a change to the nomination eligibility requirements. Effective immediately, nominees for Fellow must be current ASM members in good standing for a minimum of 10 years, an increase from the previous five-year requirement. The Fellow designation recognizes members who have made significant contributions to the industry and demonstrated a sustained commitment to the Society. By extending the membership requirement, ASM aims to recognize individuals who have established a longer history of professional achievement and engagement within the organization. The change is also expected to foster greater involvement among newly elected Fellows who are further along in their careers and can contribute their experience, leadership, and mentorship to ASM programs and initiatives. ASM appreciates the dedication of its members and looks forward to recognizing future Fellows who exemplify excellence, service, and commitment to the Society. Nominations submitted in 2025 and 2026, and currently in the review process, will be grandfathered in and will remain eligible.
