VOLUNTEER Share Your Passion for Materials! One of the most impactful ways of getting involved with ASM International is through volunteering; as our volunteers say, “the more you put into your ASM membership, the more you get out of it.” The passion and commitment of our volunteers drives our success at every level, from local chapters, national committees, and councils to the ASM Board. There are many ways you can use your skills and strengths for the betterment of the materials science community and stand out because of these efforts. Take an active role in the leadership of ASM and make a real difference in the next generation of materials scientists. • Teach a course or write / edit course materials • Write articles for ASM publications • Speak or present your paper / research at an ASM conference or local Chapter • Help with student outreach efforts • Organize and help set-up an ASM Materials Camp for teachers or students • Serve on a National Committee or Council • Enter your work for awards and recognition • Become a local career mentor In addition to all the personal fulfillment and sense of achievement volunteering brings into your life, there is also recognition within the community. ASM has a robust awards program for its members and volunteers. You could be the next volunteer to: • Be on the Chapter Volunteer Honor Roll • Be in a Profile of a Volunteer • Receive an Allan Ray Putnam Service Award • Receive Honorary Membership • Receive a Silver Medal • Become a Fellow of ASM Visit the VOLUNTEERING section on the ASM Website to share your volunteer interests. asminternational.org/membership/volunteer
