Liwei Wang, senior director of heterogeneous integration technologies, AMD, spoke on the “Future of AI Hardware Enabled by Advanced Packaging,” and Steven Herschbein, independent consultant, addressed “The CHIPS Act and its Impact on the U.S. Semiconductor Industry, the overall Economy, and Analytical Labs.” Looking forward, ISTFA 2026 will take place in San Antonio, Texas, much earlier than usual, Oct. 4 to 8 under the theme “Design for Analysis: Integrating FA into Future Technologies.” Kristofer Dickson will serve as General Chair, with Chuan Zhang unanimously approved as the Technical Program Chair. The EDFAS Board of Directors remains steadfast in its mission to strengthen the Society’s visibility and credibility, providing value to members and advancing the industry through volunteer contributions. EDFAS BOARD OF DIRECTORS 2026 CALL FOR NOMINATIONS Felix Beaudoin, FASM, Chair, EDFAS Awards and Nominations Committee Immediate Past President, EDFAS felix.beaudoin@globalfoundries.com EDFAS is soliciting nominations for candidates for one vice president and one secretary for a two-year term and three members at large for a three-year term for the EDFAS Board of Directors. You must be a member of ASM and EDFAS to be considered for candidacy. Positions begin October 1. Any member of EDFAS in good standing is encouraged to nominate themselves or another member for one of these positions. Incumbents may also seek reappointment by notifying the Awards and Nominations Committee Chair, Felix Beaudoin at felix.beaudoin@globalfoundries.com. Nominations are due March 1. Candidates who initiate or accept nominations will be asked to provide a one-page nomination package that includes the candidate’s academic/business biography, failure analysis background, EDFAS and ISTFA involvement, vision for the future of EDFAS, photograph, and contact information. Service on the EDFAS Board of Directors involves planning and driving the future strategy of your society. The board meets three times a year by teleconference and holds one face-to-face meeting at ISTFA. Board members also provide liaison support to several EDFAS committees, which may involve additional conference calls. Candidates are encouraged to ensure that they have the support of their employer for this activity. EDFAS is also seeking applicants for its student board member position. Students must be a registered undergraduate or graduate during the 2026-2027 academic year and must be studying or involved in research in the field of failure analysis for the electronic/semiconductor industry.
