edfas.org 35 ELECTRONIC DEVICE FAILURE ANALYSIS | VOLUME 28 NO. 1 After several years of hosting successful structured networking sessions at ISTFA, the Women in Electronics Failure Analysis (WEFA) team introduced a new event format on November 19, 2025. This year’s lunch session featured a dynamic panel of seven trailblazing women, each making significant contributions to the field of FA. Organized and moderated by Renee Parente, AMD, with support from Amrutha Sampath, NXP Semiconductors, and Sarah Poehlmann, Milwaukee Tool, the session blended technical insights with opportunities for mentorship. The seven panelists included: Lesly Zaren Endrinal, failure analysis lead, Google, and chair of Die-Level Roadmap Council; Susan Li, technical director FA, Marvell; Cecile Bonifacio, senior applications scientist and TEM specialist, E.A. Fischione Instruments; Valerie Brogden, technical operations, business development, and marketing, Covalent Metrology; Rose Ring, director of applications and engineering, NenoVision; Ingrid De Wolf, FASM, professor at KU Leuven and fellow at IMEC Leuven, Belgium; and Efrat (Efi) Moyal, director, materials research and electronics RMS NA, Zeiss Microscopy. The session opened with a video that featured interview clips of the panelists discussing trailblazing attributes, “lightning-strike” moments that shaped their careers, and advice to their younger selves. Collaboration emerged as a central theme, highlighted in the panelists’ reflections on mentorship and leadership. Susan Li mused, “A trailblazer is definitely not someone just running fast by yourself.” Efi Moyal added, “To me, being a trailblazer isn’t about walking in front. It’s about clearing the path so others can walk beside you.” Serving as both an introduction and a mood-setter, the video created an engaging start to the session.
