The new EDFAS board president Renee Parente opened the meeting with a special thanks to all board members for their dedication and hard work. She also recognized the now Past President Felix Beaudoin for his years of service in leading the Society. EDFAS officers, Yan Li, Vice President/Finance officer and Chris Richardson, second term Secretary along with incoming Board of Director Member at Large Daminda Dahanayaka, Ted Kolasa, Vinod Narang (one-year term), and reappointed student member Ho Lun Chang were also welcomed into their new roles. Renee Parente provided insights into what drives her as an individual, reflecting on her values of trustworthiness, accountability, and reliability to help provide background into her goals for the Society. Her words about accountability are words to live by as they involve recognizing priorities, taking ownership, focusing on execution, and answering for actions and results, all while staying true to oneself. The EDFAS Strategic Objectives are to Engage, Empower, and Expand the Society. As members and leaders, we must hold ourselves and peers accountable. It is our duty to connect, collaborate, and ensure that no one misses out on the opportunities within our Society. We are a group of phenomenal individuals with shared interests and passions, and by connecting with each other we can all achieve more successes and in general make things better and easier for ourselves. The board would like to highlight the outstanding efforts of our student board member, Lun Chan, who has created an exciting group of students/young professionals. With assistance from Phil Kaszuba, they created an EDFAS Pilot Mentorship Program with the goal to help young students and professionals advance their careers in the microelectronics FA industry. The FA Roadmap Committee has shifted from gap identification, as was published in the FA Roadmap technical reports (available as an ebook in the ASM Digital Library), to seeking potential solutions through close collaboration with equipment manufactures/academia. This has been accomplished through surveys and direct interaction with vendors at the CAM Workshop 2024 and ISTFA 2024. Their goal is to publish a formal summary in Q1-2025. The Webinar Series, sponsored by the Membership Subcommittee, which was successfully launched in 2023, continued to provide value to the Society with two engaging talks this year. E. Jan Vardaman presented “Advanced Packaging Options and the Role of Chiplets” and Dr. David Su spoke on “Navigating Three Decades of IC Materials and Failure Analysis: What I Learned.” The subcommittee has also transitioned the leadership role from Tom Schamp to Kevin Distelhurst.
