ABOUT THE AUTHORS Hsiang-Jen Wang received his Ph.D. in materials science and engineering from the University of Virginia in 2007. He specializes in materials evaluation, cell testing, and post-mortem failure ana- lysis in understanding degradation mechanisms and designing mitigation method for continuous property improvement. Ming Chen currently holds a professor MSO position at the Department of Energy Conversion and Storage, Technical University of Denmark. He received a doctor of sciences degree from the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology Zurich (ETH Zurich) in 2005. His research areas include characterization and modeling of solid oxide cells, high temperature corrosion, thermodynamic, diffusion and phase field modeling. Yilin Liu was a senior scientist at the Department of Energy Conversion and Storage, Technical University of Denmark and is currently retired. Sheworked in the field of microstructure characteriza- tion of materials and electronmicroscopy, with a focus on studying degradationmechanisms during operation for materials utilized in new energy technology. She holds a Ph.D. inmaterials science and engineering from Catholic University of Leuven. Luise Theil Kuhn received a Ph.D. degree in solid state physics fromtheNiels Bohr Institute, University of Copenhagen in 1999. Since 2015 she has been Head of Studies for B.Sc. in general engineering. Her scientific profile is fundamental understanding of the properties of interfaces andmicro-/nanostructures in granular/porous functional materials for energy applications and how these are linked to performance, degradation, and lifetime. JacobR. Bowen has over two decades of structural and functional materials structure-property relationship characterization experience on the micro and nanoscale in alloys and energy materials. He received his B.Met.E. in physical metallurgy fromUNSW in 1996 and his Ph.D. fromManchester University in 2000. He is now a product manager at Xnovo Technology ApS.
