FROM THE PRESIDENT’S DESK ASM Hosts Technical Solutions At ASM, we recognize that the pursuit of knowledge never stops. This belief is at the core of who we are as a society and drives everything we do to serve you, our members. One of our key objectives is to empower each of you by delivering specialized technical content and fostering meaningful collaborations that spark innovation and yield practical, impactful solutions. This past fall, we proudly demonstrated that commitment by partnering with Instron to host the inaugural Technical Solutions Showcase, a unique event designed to explore cutting-edge advancements in materials testing systems. The success of this event is a testament to the strength of our community. Over the course of two engaging days, more than 150 participants came together to learn about technical solutions with Instron and its esteemed partner organizations—Buehler Ltd., Westmoreland Mechanical Testing & Research Inc., and Clemex Technologies Inc. The program provided a deep dive into real-world case studies and practical applications for testing equipment. Attendees gained valuable insights on how to integrate both established and emerging technologies into their work to validate processes and expand analytical possibilities. By tailoring the event to address participants’ specific challenges, the Technical Solutions Showcase enabled a hands-on exploration of advanced techniques and created a unique space for forging partnerships. Collaborations like these represent the heart of ASM— connecting industry experts, original equipment manufacturers (OEMs), and end-users who share the common goal of advancing materials science and solving the technical challenges of today and tomorrow. Events like the Technical Solutions Showcase serve as reminders of what we can accomplish when we come together. They inspire creativity, accelerate innovation, and strengthen the bonds of our professional community. They reaffirm ASM’s commitment to equipping you, our members, with the knowledge, tools, and relationships to thrive in a constantly evolving field. Looking ahead, I am thrilled to share that additional Technical Solutions Showcases are being planned for this year. These events will continue to foster collaboration and bring fresh opportunities to explore emerging technologies while addressing the needs of our membership. If you are an OEM or know of a group of end-users who would benefit from working closely with a specific manufacturer, I encourage you to contact John Cerne, ASM’s director of business development. Together, we can design a customized showcase that addresses your needs, builds meaningful connections, and enhances the impact we can collectively achieve. Thank you for being part of the ASM community. Together, we advance the future of materials science and engineering.
