He is head of the Materials Structures and Processing section in the Materials Science and Technology Division at the Department of Energy’s Oak Ridge National Laboratory. The award honors long-lasting contributions to the design, synthesis, processing, and performance of engineering materials with significant industrial applications. Tiley will be recognized at the technical division’s luncheon on March 17, 2026, in San Diego during the 155th TMS Annual Meeting. In addition to his role at ORNL, Tiley is an adjunct professor at the University of North Texas, Wright State University, and The Ohio State University. He served for several years on the AM&P Editorial Committee, including as chair in 2016. Asadi Directs Security and Assurance Lab Navid Asadi, associate professor at the University of Florida, Gainesville, gave a tour of his Security and Assurance Lab to Navin Manjooran, FASM, when the then ASM president was in town attending a College of Engineering Deans board meeting on campus. Under Asadi’s leadership, his team is deploying the Sigray system to combine advanced x-ray laminography and computed tomography with AI-augmented workflows to noninvasively inspect dense, noisy, multilayer semi- conductor and microelectronic structures—such as BGAs, TSVs, and hybrid bonding stacks—with minimal imaging noise and enhanced volumetric resolution. Hill Receives MTI Heritage Award Robert “Bob” Hill, Jr., FASM, was presented with the Metal Treating Institute’s (MTI) Heritage Award during their fall meeting. Hill, president of Solar Atmo- spheres of Western PA and Michigan, was recognized for his lifetime commitment and significant contributions to advancing the commercial heat treating industry. The Heritage Award is MTI’s highest honor. Hill is a past ASM trustee, served in leadership roles with ASM’s Heat Treating Society, and is a member of the ASM Pittsburgh Chapter.
