HIGHLIGHTS ADVANCED MATERIALS & PROCESSES | NOVEMBER/DECEMBER 2025 53 Prof. Lorraine Frances (le ) receives the 2025 Albert Easton White Distinguished Teacher Award from Navin Manjooran, FASM. EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR CORNER EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR CORNER Help Us Write ASM’s Story As we near the end of 2025, it is time to turn our attention to the year ahead. At ASM, there is much to be excited about as Dr. Elizabeth Hoffman, FASM, begins her term as ASM’s next president. Hoffman brings both deep technical expertise and leadership experience to this role, having recently transitioned from senior vice president at IMAT in October. Our headquarters team is already hard at work advancing the 2026 priority initiatives established by the Board. We are developing strategies to strengthen membership engagement, expand our technical content, deploy AI tools that deliver real value to members, and broaden our educational offerings. (See “From the President’s Desk” on the previous page for more details on these initiatives and how you can get involved.) We also closed out the ASM 2025 fall meetings in Detroit with great success. From innovative technical sessions and sold-out events to meaningful networking and the Society’s signature protocol gatherings, this year’s meetings were a celebration of our community’s energy and expertise. It was a pleasure to see and speak with so many members—a powerful reminder of how essential our annual meeting is to ASM’s vitality. One of the highlights of IMAT 2025 was the vibrant ASM booth, which quickly became a hub of energy and enthusiasm. Throughout the event, more than 125 attendees—including members, volunteers, and first-time visitors—shared testimonials about their ASM experiences. From stories of mentorship and professional growth to reflections on the value of our technical community, the feedback captured the passion that fuels ASM’s mission. The booth not only showcased our latest initiatives and resources but also served as a powerful reminder of the strength and spirit of the ASM community in action. In this issue, you’ll also find the announcement of new officers and board members for our Affiliate Societies (see page 49). Their dedication and specialized expertise deepen ASM’s impact across disciplines. Whether through their contributions to events, education programs, publications, or technical leadership, these leaders help strengthen the foundation of our shared mission. As we plan for the coming year, I encourage you to get involved: • Nominate a colleague to be named an ASM Fellow (due November 30) Becker Annual ASM Award Nominations due Feb. 1, 2026 The deadline for the majority of ASM’s awards is February 1, 2026, and we are actively seeking nominations for all of these awards, a few of which are listed below: • Edward DeMille Campbell Memorial Lectureship • Distinguished Life Membership • William Hunt Eisenman Award • Gold Medal • Silver Medal • Bronze Medal • Historical Landmarks • Honorary Membership • Medal for Advancement of Research • Allan Ray Putnam Service Award • Albert Sauveur Achievement Award • Albert Easton White Distinguished Teacher Award • J.
