HIGHLIGHTS ADVANCED MATERIALS & PROCESSES | NOVEMBER/DECEMBER 2025 52 FROM THE PRESIDENT’S DESK ASM’s New Strategic Plan and Initiatives I am honored to serve as the president of ASM International and to lead our Society alongside the 20252026 Board of Trustees and Executive Director Veronica Becker. To begin my term, I am excited to share our 2026-2030 Strategic Plan, shaped by surveys and interviews with society leaders, including affiliate society, council, and committee leaders. The full plan is available at asminternational.org/ about-asm/strategicplan. Key focus areas identified for 2026-2030 are Membership Network, Technical Content, and Strategic Partnerships. To support these areas, we have outlined four actionable initiatives for the upcoming year: 1. Membership Value Initiative. Enhance awareness and benefits of ASM membership through targeted communications and outreach to attract and retain members. AI and Partnerships Initiative. Deploy artificial intelligence (AI) tools to enhance materials science projects and collaborate with partners to improve these tools and the ASM network. Assess professional education needs and develop relevant ASM courses to meet workforce needs. This award recognizes excellence in early career teachers in the field of materials science, materials engineering, design, and processing.
