FEATURE ADVANCED MATERIALS & PROCESSES | NOVEMBER/DECEMBER 2025 39 HEAT TREATING SOCIETY NEWS 5 HEAT TREATING SOCIETY SEEKS BOARD NOMINATIONS The HTS Awards and Nominations Committee is seeking nominations for three directors for a three-year term, and two (one alternating) emerging professional board members for a one-year term. Candidates must be an HTS member in good standing. Nominations should be made on the formal nomination form and can be submitted by a chapter, council, committee, HTS member, or an affiliate society. The HTS Awards and Nominations Committee may consider any HTS member, even those who have served on the HTS Board previously. Nominations for Board Members are due March 1, 2026. The ASM Heat Treating Society is seeking applicants for two student board member positions. Nominations are due by April 1. To be eligible, you must be a Material Advantage undergraduate or graduate student during the academic year of service, studying or researching in an area closely related to the field of heat treating, metallurgy/materials science. SOLICITING PAPERS FOR ASM HTS/BODYCOTE BEST PAPER IN HEAT TREATING CONTEST The ASM Heat Treating Society established the Best Paper in Heat Treating Award in 1997 to recognize a paper that represents advancement in heat-treating technology, promotes heat treating in a substantial way, or represents a clear advancement in managing the business of heat treating. The award, endowed by Bodycote Thermal Process-North America, is open to all students, in full-time or part-time education, at universities (or their equivalent) or colleges. The winner will receive a plaque and a check for $2500. Paper submission deadline is March 1, 2026. For more information visit asminternational.org/hts/ membership/awards. ASM HEAT TREATING SOCIETY BOARD NEWS The Heat Treating Society board appointed two new members to the board for a three-year term. They also appointed a new member for a two-year term. Two student board members have been appointed for a oneyear term. See page 49 in this issue for the full story. Monserrat Sofia López-Cornejo, Instituto Tecnológico de Morelia, has won the Prof. Valentin S. Nemkov Academic Research Award, presented at Heat Treat 2025 in Detroit. The award is Fluxtrol Inc.’s annual recognition program for post-doctoral researchers, lecturers, and professors (academic researchers) that is presented to the researcher who had the greatest impact on that year’s event in the area of thermal processing of materials. Sridhar Seetharaman, CEO of EPIXC, and chief science officer at Arizona State University spoke about electrification of industrial heat and key findings from EPIXC’s roadmap.
