Hyer Bagherifard EMERGING PROFESSIONALS Young Professionals Host Events at IMAT IMAT 2025 is just around the corner, and the Emerging Professionals Committee (EPC) is excited to host another dynamic Perspectives for Emerging Professionals symposium. We are looking forward to reconnecting with familiar faces and welcoming new colleagues in Detroit, October 20–23. This year’s symposium will feature seven invited speakers sharing insights tailored to emerging professionals across a wide range of topics. Highlights include: • “From Lab to Launch: Navigating a Career in Aerospace Materials” by Punnathat Bordeenithikasem of Machina Labs Inc., an EPC alumnus • “Finding Materials Science and Engineering Careers in the U.S. Federal Government” by Erik Mueller, FASM, National Transportation Safety Board • “The Moves We Make: Career Transitions for an Engineer” by Daniel P. Dennies, FASM, DMS Inc. These presentations will take place on Monday, October 20, in Room 312AB (Huntington Place). On Tuesday morning, EPC members will host a pop-in, pop-out office hour (10:30–11:50 a.m. in Room 312AB)—a great opportunity for informal networking, career discussions, and resume feedback ahead of the Exhibit Hall events. For more seasoned ASM members, don’t miss the chance to support student competitors in events like DomesDay, HTS Strong Bar, and the Fluxtrol Student Research Competition. We’d love to see you at the office hour, too—especially our fellow EPC alumni. Students, get ready for a fantastic IMAT Passport experience that connects you with all the student-focused events throughout the conference. The EPC can’t wait to see everyone in Detroit for IMAT 2025! For the latest updates, visit imatevent.org.
