HIGHLIGHTS ADVANCED MATERIALS & PROCESSES | OCTOBER 2025 60 INSTRON MATERIALS TESTING SHOWCASE SUCCESS ASM International headquarters at Materials Park, Ohio, in partnership with Instron, developed the 2025 Instron Materials Testing Showcase. With over 125 qualified attendees, both local and as far as Sweden, the event began on August 19 with a welcome reception, guided tours of the iconic geodesic dome, metallurgical labs, and indoor and outdoor exhibits. Twenty educational/ technical presentations and user stories from experts in the field of materials testing from Instron, Westmoreland Mechanical Testing & Research, Buehler, and Clemex were conducted on August 20 and 21. A showcase of Instron testing equipment that allowed hands-on demonstrations was featured throughout the event. HTS Award Deadlines ASM HTS/Bodycote Best Paper in Heat Treating Contest The ASM Heat Treating Society established the Best Paper in Heat Treating Award in 1997 to recognize a paper that represents advancement in heat treating technology, promotes heat treating in a substantial way, or represents a clear advancement in managing the business of heat treating. The award, endowed by Bodycote Thermal Process- North America, is open to all students, in full-time or part-time education, at universities (or their equivalent) or colleges. Students who have graduated within the past three years and whose paper describes work completed while an undergraduate or post graduate student are also eligible. The winner will receive a plaque and a check for $2500. Paper submission deadline is March 1, 2026.
