Rau in Pforzheim before moving to NDC (now Confluent Medical Technologies), where he supported critical R&D projects and FDA submissions. Since then, he has become a trusted partner across the industry, known for his ability to bridge technical expertise with strategic vision. Fluent in German and English, Wick is also an active member of the SMST community, having attended nearly every conference since 1994 and previously serving on its board from 2012 to 2013. Buehler Award recognizes excellence in shape memory or superelastic alloy technical innovation. This award recognizes those who have provided an exceptional amount of effort and valuable return on effort in their service to advancing shape memory and superelastic alloy technology. Nominations are reviewed and pre-discussed by the SMST Awards & Nominations Committee. The recipient is then selected by a committee including the SMST president and vice president, as well as the chair of the A&N Committee. The award will be presented at SMST 2026 in La Jolla, Calif.
