CHAPTERS IN THE NEWS Pittsburgh Holds Young Members Night ASM Pittsburgh Chapter’s largest annual event is the Young Members Night (YMN), which was celebrated on February 20. More than 100 students and materials professionals and academics came from local schools including the University of Pittsburgh (Pitt), Carnegie Mellon University (CMU), and Robert Morris University (RMU). The guest speaker was Elizabeth Hoffman, FASM, of Savannah River National Laboratory. Hoffman, ASM senior vice president, shared insights from her materials science research journey. The evening also included a student research poster session, student talks by Rafael Rodriguez (Pitt) and Benjamin Glaser (CMU), and an awards presentation. Atlanta Welcomes ASM President ASM President Navin Manjooran, FASM, made a visit to the Atlanta Chapter in April. During his trip, he presented a lecture on the future of materials and met with members of the ASM Thermal Spray Society Board. He also made several industry visits where he met with ASM members.
