MEMBERS IN THE NEWS National Academy of Engineering Honors ASM Members In February, the National Academy of Engineering (NAE) elected 128 new members and 22 international members. Among the inductees are several ASM members: Chen Holm Schadler Long-Qing Chen, FASM, Donald W. Hamer Professor, department of materials science and engineering, Pennsylvania State University, University Park. For making the phase-field method the most powerful tool for predicting the mesoscopic microstructure and properties of engineering materials. Elizabeth Ann Holm, FASM, Richard F. and Eleanor A. Towner Professor and department chair, department of materials science and engineering, University of Michigan, Ann Arbor. For achievements in the development and application of computational methods for under- standing microstructural evolution and integrated computational materials engineering. Linda S. Schadler, FASM, dean, College of Engineering and Mathematical Sciences, University of Vermont, Burlington. For contributions to the fundamental understanding, property control, and commercial application of polymer nanocomposites. Election to NAE is among the highest professional distinctions accorded to an engineer. Academy membership honors those who have made outstanding contributions to engineering research, practice, or education. An induction ceremony for the NAE Class of 2025 will be held on October 5 at the Academy’s annual meeting in Washington. CHAPTERS IN THE NEWS
