FROM THE FOUNDATION Help Shape the Future of STEM This summer, the ASM Materials Education Foundation (MEF) is launching a groundbreaking initiative: our firstever ASM Materials Semiconductor Camp. The semiconductor industry in Ohio and across the country is rapidly growing, creating an urgent demand for a skilled workforce. This project addresses the talent gap by equipping teachers with knowledge and tools to inspire students toward careers in materials science and semiconductors. The core curriculum of the Materials Camp will remain the same, providing hands-on, materials-based learning, but we will dedicate focused time to the semiconductor industry, highlighting relevant materials, processes, and career pathways. We are so grateful for our partners who are helping with the content: EDFAS, Global Foundries, Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory, and Lorain County Community College. This program will inspire thousands of students to explore STEM pathways, addressing workforce shortages in the semiconductor sector and helping build a skilled, future-ready talent pipeline. ASM MEF will also be hosting the Teacher Institute Materials Camp here at the Dome. This program is tailored for high school and middle school educators from Title 1 schools and those serving underrepresented students in STEM. Beyond the week at the Dome, these teachers will receive year-round professional development, resources, IMC 2024 Jacquet-Lucas winning poster by Adrian Herges from Saarland University, Germany.
