iTSSe TSS ADVANCED MATERIALS & PROCESSES | APRIL 2025 33 iTSSe TSS iTSSe: 20 YEARS OF SUCCESS ALREADY T wenty years ago, Prof. Rick Knight, FASM, a TSS past president, dedicated volunteer, and fellow thermal spray colleague, launched iTSSe, the International Thermal Spray & Surface Engineering (iTSSe) newsletter. In what became the publication’s very first editorial, Rick penned these words: “We envision a publication that will not only provide global technical and commercial information about thermal spray and related surface engineering technologies to our members and subscribers, but also represent a platform for us to broaden the reach of thermal spray technology into new industries and new applications.” Ever since, I have personally been an avid reader of iTSSe, and my unequivocal message to Rick and others who served as editors, to the contributors, and to Joanne Miller over at ASM is: MISSION ACCOMPLISHED! The quality and diversity of the content has been exemplary and inspiring. A special tribute to another TSS past president and dedicated volunteer, Charlie Kay, FASM, who acted as iTSSe’s editor for the last eight years. Charlie: On behalf of the thermal spray community, I want to express my heartfelt gratitude for your dedicated work; you have certainly set the bar very high, and now I can only try my best to live up to the challenge as the new editor of iTSSe. Let me also take the opportunity of this first issue of 2025 to invite all of you to submit contributions to iTSSe. To do so, contact Joanne (joanne.miller@asminter- national.org) or myself (luc.pouliot@polycontrols.com), and we will be happy to guide you through the process. The good news is that there is no cost associated with submitting a contribution. Finally, I would like to remind you of the upcoming ITSC 2025 (asminter- national.org/itsc-2025) taking place May 5-8 in Vancouver, Canada, under the theme “Sustainable Innovations in Thermal Spray Technology: Pioneering a Greener Future.” Do not miss this golden opportunity to meet with your peers, learn about the latest scientific advancements in the field, and discover the newest equipment and materials available for you. I wish you all a very successful 2025, and I look forward to your iTSSe contributions!
