MEMBERS IN THE NEWS Henein Recognized for Research Transfer Success Hani Henein, FASM, a professor at the University of Alberta, was awarded the Research to Industrial Practice Award from The Minerals, Metals & Materials Society (TMS). The award recognizes an individual who has demonstrated outstanding achievement in transferring research results or findings into commercial production and practical use. Henein’s citation reads, “For outstanding achievement in transferring research including rapidly solidified powders, pipeline steels, and novel thermophysical property measurements to commercial production and practical use.” Henein began his career at Carnegie Mellon University and later joined the University of Alberta in 1989. He served as the 2014 TMS President. Henein will receive his award during the TMS 2025 Annual Meeting & Exhibition to be held March 23-27 in Las Vegas. He is a member of the ASM Edmonton Chapter and 2019 winner of the ASM Canada Council Brian M. Ives Lectureship.
