FROM THE FOUNDATION Thank You for Making a Material Difference As we reflect on the achievements of the past year, we are deeply grateful for the generosity of our donors and the unwavering commitment of those who help bring our mission to life. It is because of your support that the ASM Materials Education Foundation has been able to expand and strengthen our reach, especially through our ASM Materials Camps-Teachers, which continue to make a profound impact on educators and students across the nation. This year, thanks to your contributions, we are thrilled to announce the addition of four new camp locations, bringing our total to 46 camps for teachers across North America. These camps play a critical role in equipping educators with hands-on materials science training that they can take back to their classrooms. Each teacher trained at our camps goes on to inspire hundreds of students, igniting a passion for STEM that can last a lifetime. The ripple effect of your donations is truly transformative, as each teacher impacts an estimated 123 students per year, reaching more than 1700 students over an average teaching career. The success of our ASM Materials Camps would not be possible without the dedication of our passionate volunteers, skilled instructors, and collaborative partners. From logistics to curriculum development, countless hours are invested by our team and volunteers to create engaging, high-impact experiences for educators. Thank you to everyone involved in making these camps exceptional! In looking ahead, we are exploring new and innovative avenues to ensure sustainable funding for our programs. These include forging partnerships with corporate sponsors who recognize the importance of a robust STEM talent pipeline and developing creative fundraising campaigns that showcase the importance of materials science education. By diversifying our funding streams, we can continue EMERGING PROFESSIONALS to expand our programs and reach even more educators and students. To all our donors, partners, and volunteers: Thank you for helping us empower educators and inspire the next generation of STEM innovators. Together, we are truly making a material difference. Carrie Wilson Executive Director, ASM Materials Education Foundation EMERGING PROFESSIONALS Please Join ASM’s Emerging Professionals Are you early in your career and would like to become involved in ASM, but not sure where to start? The Emerging Professionals Committee (EPC) might be the right choice for you. Come explore a community of individuals all finding themselves in the same situation, new in their career and looking for the best way to become connected to the greater materials community. EPC is responsible for making impacts in academic, government, and private establishments that include mentoring, resource deployment and advertisement, and global ASM chapter interactions. Moreover, it is a great way to network with other young professionals to exchange ideas and perspectives. Our current cohort includes young professionals from across the U.S. and abroad, all bringing different backgrounds and exper- iences, with materials science and engineering as the umbrella that covers us all. We are a motivated group of individuals who look to uplift and promote each other in our respective careers. Joining EPC is a three-year commitment, during which you have the opportunity to be involved in various subcommittees each year, or become part of the EPC leadership team. The committee meets once a month by video conferencing, with an annual business meeting in-person every year at ASM’s IMAT conference. Although attendance is not required at IMAT, it is always beneficial to meet in person. For more information or to apply to the EPC, visit ASM Connect, view Volunteer Opportunities, and then click on Emerging Professionals Committee (2025). Applications are now being accepted and the deadline is March 12. If you have any questions or have issues submitting your application, reach out to Drew Fleming at drew.fleming@ asminternational.org. Holden Hyer Oak Ridge National Laboratory Wilson Hyer
