AMP 08 November-December 2024

HIGHLIGHTS ADVANCED MATERIALS & PROCESSES | NOVEMBER/DECEMBER 2024 39 Inclusivity will be a cornerstone of my leadership. ASM’s strength lies in its diversity, and we must continue to promote this within our ranks, ensuring that individuals from all backgrounds have the opportunity to contribute to and lead our society. By focusing on inclusive excellence, we are ensuring that ASM remains relevant, forwardlooking, and dynamic in its approach to the challenges and opportunities ahead. Giving Back Materials have been the foundation of my career, supported by years of membership in ASM. I believe so strongly that materials are essential to the future that I not only give back to the society through countless hours of volunteer service, but I also recently made a pledge to materials organizations, including the ASM Materials Education Foundation, to ensure that the same opportunities in materials are available to future generations of students, educators, academics, and professionals. I urge all of you to give back in any way you can— whether through time, service, or contributions—to secure the educational mission of our society and safeguard ASM’s future. Contributing your valuable time is also essential to the growth of our society. As the saying goes, “time is money” and we need our young and emerging members and leaders to step up and get involved. Looking Ahead: ASM Forward 2025 As I lead ASM International into the future, I remain focused on building a bold yet achievable path forward. Through strategic collaborations, deeper member engagement, and strengthening our core foundations, we will guide ASM into the next era of innovation and impact. By fostering a culture of inclusivity, driving cutting-edge research, and maintaining our leadership in the field, ASM will be well positioned to meet the challenges and opportunities of the future. Looking forward, we must remain adaptable. The world is changing rapidly, and the demands on materials are growing more complex. By staying ahead of these trends and ensuring that ASM is positioned as a leader in both technological and societal advancements, we can ensure that our organization thrives. I am confident that, together, we can achieve great things. Thank you for being part of this journey, and I look forward to working alongside you to ensure that ASM remains the global leader in materials science, engineering, and technology. Let us lead ASM toward a bright future together. ASM Forward 2025! ASM President Navin Manjooran, FASM navin.manjooran@asminternational.org EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR CORNER Supporting New Strategic Priorities As we approach the end of 2024, it’s time to reflect on our accomplishments and the progress we’ve made this year while setting our sights on continued growth in 2025. At ASM, we have much to be excited about as we enter what ASM President Navin Manjooran describes as the “Next Era of Possibilities.” In alignment with his vision, I’d like to highlight three strategic priorities he has identified for his presidency, along with how the operations team at the Dome will support these initiatives. Focus on Members and Member Engagement: Our members will always be at the heart of our efforts. Listening to diverse voices within our society is vital for our ongoing success. By engaging members at every stage of their professional journey, we aim to strengthen our community. We will place additional emphasis on supporting young professionals to help them forge meaningful connections for their growth. Becker Focus on Core Strengths: We are committed to enhancing our events, educational offerings, and the delivery of technical information through our journals, handbooks, and technical books. This focus will ensure that ASM remains a leader in providing accessible, cutting-edge content for the materials community. Focus on Strategic Collaborations: By expanding our outreach through partnerships with adjacent organizations, we can bring together diverse perspectives and create new opportunities for our members. I encourage you to read Dr. Manjooran’s column for a deeper understanding of his focus areas as well as his vision for improved collaboration between the Board and the operations team at the Dome. Together, we are stronger and smarter. I look forward to hearing your thoughts and working closely with the ASM Board to strengthen our organization and ensure our continued relevance in the coming years.
