ASM Nominating Committee Nominations Due December 15 ASM International is seeking members to serve on the 2025 ASM Nominating Committee. The committee will select a nominee for 2025-2026 vice president who will serve as senior vice president in 2026-2027 and president in 2027-2028. The Nominating Committee will also select three trustee nominees for 2025-2028. Candidates for this committee can only be proposed by a Chapter through its executive committee, an ASM committee or council, or an affiliate society board. Nominations are due December 15. Cushnie serves as the vice president of engagement and past president of the Materials Engineering Society, an iBioMed Ambassador, and a tutor for core materials courses. She is a strong advocate for inclusivity, with executive positions on EngiQueers and the LGBTQ+ Athletic Advocacy Group. This past summer, she completed a co-op at Elarex, a local startup company that works on vaccine stabilization technologies. Ryan McGinnis Colorado School of Mines Ryan McGinnis is a junior at the Colorado School of Mines, studying metallurgical and materials engineering. His interest in materials was sparked at age seven, while forging with his grandfather. McGinnis heads the outreach efforts for the university’s Material Advantage chapter and is a teaching assistant for the bladesmithing and first-year seminar classes. He also conducts research on ceramic catalyst supports for hydrogen production. During the summers of 2022 and 2023, he worked at ASM International supporting and leading projects including automatic micrograph feature detection. This past summer, he interned with the technical services department at SSAB Iowa. McGinnis plans to attend graduate school and continue his research and materials outreach. Edward J. Dulis Scholarship The Edward J. Dulis Scholarship was established in 2003 and is awarded to an outstanding undergraduate member of ASM at the junior or senior level who demonstrates exemplary academic and personal achievements, as well as interest and potential in metallurgy or materials science and engineering. One scholar will receive a certificate and check for $1500 toward educational expenses for one academic year. Maria Mercedes Perez Padilla Institute Tecnológico de Morella Maria Mercedes Perez Padilla is a senior student of materials engineering at the Instituto Tecnológico de Morelia, specializing in steelmaking and welding.
