Wilson INTERIM EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR CORNER Come to Cleveland this Fall While we are still in the height of summer, the collective thoughts of ASM International’s staff members turn to fall in anticipation of ASM’s annual IMAT event and the Heat Treat 29th World Congress (IFHTSE), to be held from September 30 to October 3. If you have never been, I encourage you to give it a try. If you have previously attended, we look forward to welcoming you back. This event is a time to learn from and connect with the field’s experts, your peers, and to share your curiosity. And don’t wait too long, as early bird pricing is only available until August 26. I always enjoy the opportunity to see in person so many of the people I may only share email or phone conversations with during the rest of the year. It is always great to catch up in person. One of the most anticipated aspects of our event is the chance to network and connect with fellow attendees. Networking isn’t just about exchanging business cards. It’s about building relationships that can lead to new collaborations, partnerships, and ideas. Whether you’re a seasoned veteran or new to the industry, these interactions provide fresh perspectives and open doors to new opportunities. We encourage everyone to take full advantage of the networking sessions and informal conversations throughout the event. The ASM staff is excited about this year’s conference being held in Cleveland, so that we can show off our hometown and ASM’s headquarters under the iconic geodesic dome. A highlight will undoubtedly be the evening at the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame. This unique venue not only celebrates music history but also the power of creativity and innovation—values that resonate deeply with our industry. Another exciting feature will be the Materials Celebration at the Dome. This impressive architecture and immersive environment provide the ideal backdrop for showcasing advancements in materials science and technology. The Materials Celebration, sponsored by the ASM Materials Education Foundation, celebrates their success, bringing materials science to K-12 students. The pinnacle of our event will be the Awards Banquet, honoring the best and brightest in the industry. This elegant evening not only recognizes individual achievements, it also honors our community’s collective excellence. In addition to these marquee events, there will be numerous sessions, workshops, and informal gatherings to foster dialogue and collaboration. We encourage you to take note of students at the Mini-Materials Camp and cheer them on during the ASM Materials Venture Challenge, Fluxtrol Student Research, Strong Bar, and Domesday competitions. This opportunity allows industry leaders, innovators, and professionals to come together, share insights, and forge meaningful connections. With a packed schedule
