In 2023, the ASM Materials Education Foundation soared to new heights, celebrating great achievements and groundbreaking progress in the realm of materials science education. We held an unforgettable Eisenman Materials Camp for high school students at the illustrious Dome. Through dynamic hands-on activities and the expert guidance of our mentors, we le an indelible mark on the young minds we inspired. We also joined forces to host a collaborative Materials Camp for teachers in Apple’s cutting-edge facility in California. The engineers at Apple integrated the important work they do in their labs into the camp curriculum. This helped our participants see the connections to spark excitement in their students. The IMAT conference wasnʼt just an opportunity for us, it was a testament to our dedication to top-notch education. Amid the energy of this conference, one moment stood out like a beacon: ʻIgnite the Night.’ It was a wonderful gathering of excitement and purpose, marking the launch of our groundbreaking Making a Material Di erence Campaign. Our vision? Nothing short of transformative—to empower and inspire through the expansion of ASM Materials Camps, igniting curiosity and shaping futures worldwide. As the night unfolded, passion and innovation reverberated through the air, forging connections and sparking enthusiasm among our esteemed guests. By the end of the night, we knew we were on a journey to something extraordinary. We extend heartfelt gratitude to our board members, volunteers, and master teachers, whose dedication ensures the continued success of the Foundation. As we continue to champion educational excellence, we’re collectively shaping the future of materials science education and empowering the next generation of STEM leaders. Together, we’re making a material di erence. Julio Maldonado Chair of the ASM Materials Education Foundation FROM THE LEADERSHIP
