HIGHLIGHTS ADVANCED MATERIALS & PROCESSES | MAY/JUNE 2024 55 INTERIM EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR CORNER ASM International – It’s YOUR Society Just looking at the contents of this issue of AM&P shows how true this statement is. There are several articles that stem from our technical committees, new board members are being announced through the work of a nominating committee, and a strategic plan update is provided based on the work of our Board of Trustees. The work of ASM International is supported by a dedicated group of staff members working at the Dome, but that work would not be possible without the scores of volunteers that make up committees, councils, editorial boards, and other leadership positions throughout the organization. The time, dedication, and expertise of these individuals are what make ASM what it is. As the ASM International leadership reviews its strategic plan, revised last July, and looks ahead to the coming year’s process, it is important to realize that no programs or activities could happen without the volunteers to make it so. They are the strength of the organization’s products and services and are always top of mind as we plan for the future. Likewise, when you are planning for your year or years ahead, we hope that you will put volunteering and leadership positions with ASM International in those plans. Connecting with other volunteers passionate about the same topics or activities can be both personally and professionally satisfying. And we know that lifelong relationships are formed through ASM. If you are interested in joining a new activity, you can start with a volunteer form on ASM Connect or by joining a committee. If you need more assistance, please reach out to one of those dedicated staff members mentioned earlier so that they can help direct you to the best place for your interests. The ASM International community would not be the same without you, and we can’t wait to see how you will further put your mark on your Society.
