ADVANCED MATERIALS & PROCESSES | APRIL 2024 42 iTSSe TSS iTSSe TSS JTST HIGHLIGHTS 13 TOP-DOWN APPROACH FOR THE DEPOSITION OF PHOTOACTIVE (Na0.5Bi0.5) TiO3-BASED HETEROJUNCTIONS BY FLAME SPRAY: ANALYSIS OF DEPOSITION PARAMETERS Aixa I. Gutiérrez-Pérez, María T. Ayala-Ayala, Alma G. Mora-García, Carolina Hernández-Navarro, Sebastián Pérez, Jesus A. Diaz-Real, Jesus González Hernández, and Juan Muñoz-Saldaña Visible-light photoactive (Na0.5Bi0.5)TiO3 (NBT)-based heterojunctions have demonstrated their applicability in environmental remediation. The photocatalytic properties of NBT-based coatings are reported. NBT-based materials were deposited by oxyacetylene flame spray (FS). The physicochemical properties were analyzed as a function of the spraying parameters: fuel/oxygen ratio (F/O), stand-off distance (SOD), and total gas flow (TF). (Fig. 3) DEPOSITION, MICROSTRUCTURE, AND THERMAL CYCLING PERFORMANCE OF STRAIN-TOLERANT THERMAL BARRIER COATINGS Dianying Chen, Christopher Dambra, and Mitchell Dorfman Thermal barrier coatings (TBCs) with high thermal strain tolerance and erosion resistance are strongly desired in gas turbine engines. Air plasma-sprayed (APS) strain- tolerant dense vertically cracked (DVC) TBCs are now one of the standards used for components of gas turbines. The APS DVC TBCs microstructure is typically achieved utilizing high enthalpy plasma conditions at short standoff distance (~ 60 mm) in order to achieve larger tensile stress for vertical crack formation. MODELING PARAMETERS FOR FINITE ELEMENT SIMULATION OF RESIDUAL STRESS IN COLD SPRAY AND THE STRESS EVOLUTION AND DISTRIBUTION Fanchao Meng, Xiaping Fan, Zonglin Chi, Shuying Chen, and Xin Chu Residual stress is an important factor that affects the properties of cold spray coatings. The study performed 2D single-, 3D single-, and 3D multiple-particle finite element simulations based on the Eulerian method, and hole drilling measurements to study residual stress in cold-sprayed copper coatings. The study examined how the basic modeling parameters affect residual stress in the 2D system. (Fig. 5)
