HIGHLIGHTS ADVANCED MATERIALS & PROCESSES | JANUARY/FEBRUARY 2024 38 ASM Appoints Interim Executive Director The Board of Trustees of ASM International, the 501(c)(3) that acts as the overall governing body for all ASM International activities, in mid-November announced that Ms. Sandy Robert will be leaving the organization, effective mid-February 2024. With Ms. Robert’s impending departure, the Board has now begun the process of finding a new Executive Director for ASM International. Until that process is completed, Ms. Carrie Wilson, Executive Director for the ASM Materials Education Foundation, will serve as ASM’s interim Executive Director. Ms. Wilson will retain her role at the Foundation, where she has successfully directed ASM’s K-12 education programming for students and teachers, established to inspire young people to pursue careers in materials science and engineering. An excellent communicator who places a premium on cultivating relationships, Ms. Wilson now will step into a critical role with ASM International, helping us through this leadership transition. Ms. Wilson is a seasoned nonprofit professional with extensive experience as an executive director, fundraiser, consultant, and entrepreneur. She earned a bachelor’s degree in journalism and public relations from Bowling Green State University and a Juris Doctor degree from Cleveland State University College of Law. She joined ASM in 2017 and became executive director of the ASM Materials Education Foundation in 2018. Prior to ASM, she held several executive and consulting positions in the nonprofit and grantmaking sectors. As part of the Board’s Task Force ASM 2030, led by Senior Vice President Dr. Navin Manjooran, FASM, a special committee has been established to lead the search for ASM’s next Executive Director. The Board remains fully committed to the mission of ASM International, serving and advancing the needs of our ~17,000 Society members while continuing as a leader in our world of materials science and engineering. We look forward to announcing a new Executive Director for our organization soon.
