CHAPTERS IN THE NEWS CHAPTERS IN THE NEWS Goyal Visits Bangalore The ASM Bangalore Chapter hosted Pradeep Goyal, FASM, ASM president-elect of ASM International, on January 8. The officer bearers of the ASM India National Council (INC) and the Bangalore Chapter jointly planned a lunch meeting in honor of Goyal, who shared his vision and initiatives for his tenure in ASM’s leadership. The event was held at the Indian Institute of Science (IISc). Prof. Satyam Suwas, materials engineering department chairman, IISc, expressed his support for all the activities INC and the Bangalore Chapter planned for the future. Attendees included Babu Sathian (INC chair), Nataraj J.R. (INC secretary), P.T. Bindagi (INC treasurer), Jyothi Sriram (Chapter chair), Prakash B. (Chapter secretary), S.B. Arya (from NITK Surathkal), and other prominent Chapter members. Connecticut Delves Deep Two ASM Chapters in Connecticut gathered at the Groton Submarine Base on December 6, 2022, for a talk and tour delving into iconic underwater vessels. Chase Foster of General Dynamics Electric Boat spoke about the refurbishment of the USS Nautilus, the world’s first nuclear submarine. The event included a guided tour of Groton’s new submarine museum. Congratulations to these ASM Chapters celebrating milestones of serving local members! He provided the group with an “Overview of Metal Additive Manufacturing (AM) in the Aerospace Industry.”
