The Emerging Professionals Committee (EPC) is an opportunity for young ASM members to become involved with ASM at a national level. EPC members help guide the direction of ASM by offering invaluable help with products and services while making professional connections early in their career. The EPC is open to anyone who is transitioning from a student to a professional membership (~5 years post-graduation). EPC is composed of professionals with a broad range of backgrounds (academia, corporate, government, national labs, and small business). Your level of formal education has no bearing on your eligibility or likeliness of being selected for the committee. EPC members can help with a variety of projects including: selecting a winner of the Emerging Professionals Achievement Award, planning a symposium at IMAT, writing AM&P articles, hosting webinars, and helping promote ASM Connect. We exist to build relevant programming, resources, and products for the early career professional demographic and to facilitate collaboration between the community and ASM International. Emerging Professional Committee members are expected to attend virtual meetings (2-3 times a month) to help further a given objective for the committee. Although travel is not required as part of the EPC, the committee holds an annual in-person strategy meeting at IMAT in addition to hosting a symposium.
