The October 19 event was held at Saint Arnold Brewing Company. Guests enjoyed an evening of networking and fun, a German-style Oktoberfest buffet, beverages courtesy of the brewery, and an excellent technical presentation entitled, “Material Selection for Trunnion Ball Valves in Gas Transmission and Distribution Piping (ASME B31.8).” The talk was presented by Yhonny Flores, valve SME and quality advisor at Warren Valve. The evening was co-sponsored by Ethos Engineering & Testing and Special Quality Alloys. After the presentation, a private brewery tour was conducted. MEMBERS IN THE NEWS Hannecard/ASB Hosts Open House Charlie Kay, FASM, and Chirag Raval were on hand to greet over 100 guests at the October 11 open house and guided tour at Hannecard Roller Coatings Inc., formerly ASB Industries Inc., in Barberton, Ohio. Festivities highlighted the new technologies that the Belgium-headquartered company brings to the Akron area. As a complement to ASB’s expertise in thermal spray and cold spray applications, Hannecard brings 120 years of experience in roller and sleeve coverings in rubber, polyurethane, composite, and carbide for various sectors. ASB benefits from Hannecard’s worldwide expertise and R&D. Further, Hannecard will expand ASB’s recognized technology throughout Europe, Asia, and Africa. Albert Kay, FASM, TSS-HoF, ASB’s founder and past president of ASM’s Thermal Spray Society (2000-2002), was recognized and applauded during the opening remarks by Hannecard chairman Paul Verfaellie.
