MEMBERS IN THE NEWS Guo Honored with SME Award Yuebin Guo, Rutgers University-New Brunswick, Piscataway, N.J., received the SME Albert M. Sargent Progress Award. He was among seven leaders to receive a 2022 International Honor Award from the society in recognition of their contributions to manufacturing technologies, processing, education, and research. Guo is the Henry Rutgers Professor of Advanced Manufacturing, Mechanical & Aerospace Engineering at the university. He is a member of ASM International, its affiliate society for Shape Memory & Superelastic Technologies, and the ASMBirminghamChapter. Guo is also a Fellow of ASME and SME, as well as a member of the National Academy of Inventors. He has an M.S. in mechanical engineering from Tsinghua University in China and a Ph.D. in advanced manufacturing from Purdue University. Hargather Earns Tenure Chelsey Hargather, New Mexico Tech, Socorro, received tenure and was promoted to associate professor in the materials and metallurgical engineering department. Among her areas of research is database development of Ni-base superalloy systems using the CALPHAD approach. In 2021, she received a five-year, $520,000 NSF CAREER award for research into fundamental failure mechanisms in high-entropy alloys. Hargather earned a doctorate in materials science and engineering from The Pennsylvania State University in 2012. She also received a bachelor of science degree in materials science and engineering from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University in 2008. Hargather is a member of the ASM Albuquerque Chapter and the Alloy Phase Diagram Committee. Kleinsasser Receives Scholarship Tyler Kleinsasser, Colorado School of Mines, received a 2022 student scholarship from the Chemical Coaters Association International Finishing Education Foundation (CCAI FEF), Lakewood Ranch, Fla. The Foundation awarded a total of $17,000 in scholarships to nine students. “Each recipient has a unique connection Hargather Guo Kleinsasser MEMBERS IN THE NEWS Inaugural MA Event at VIT Bhopal The inaugural event of the MA Chapter at VIT Bhopal University, Kothrikalan, Sehore, Madhya Pradesh, India, occurred online on May 2. Approximately 140 students and nine dignitaries participated. The chief guest was Pradeep Goyal, chairman and MD of Pradeep Metals Ltd., Mumbai. The Chapter has 108 student members and is the largest Material Advantage Chapter in India. The inauguration was organized under the leadership of Honorable Vice Chancellor Dr. U. Kamachi Mudali who is also a trustee of ASM International. The event had the blessings of Honourable Chancellor Dr. G. Viswanathan, Vice President Shri Sankar Viswanathan and Assistant Vice President Kadhambari S. Viswanathan. Faculty Advisor Dr. Balaguru Sethuraman formally welcomed all the dignitaries. The function was graced by Dr. Judith Todd, and Dr. Dave Williams, ASM International’s president and vice president, respectively. Other guests included Prof. Ravi Ravindran, Dr. Navin J. Manjooran, Dr. Ashok Tiwari, Prof. M. Kamaraj, and Shri N. Sampathkumar. Student officers conducting the successful event were Anurag Gadgil, Akshita Kumar, Lavanya Basera, Surya Murali, and Saksham Kathuria.
