2021 HIGHLIGHT: MATERIALS SCIENCE IN A VIRTUAL WORLD Throughout 2021, the Foundation operated 16 virtual teacher camps, which included 12 year-one sessions, two advanced sessions, one K-5 teacher session, and one Teacher Institute. Financial support for teacher participants and Materials Camp instructors is provided by a wide range of institutions and corporations. “I think it is amazing that you send resources that can be used in the classroom! Thank you so much. It is so refreshing to see how these concepts are applied in other districts, provinces, and countries! A great way to spend the summer!” “This camp was a great opportunity to explore my interest in materials science. I was able to perform many fun experiments, gain an understanding of important materials science concepts and even learn about the career opportunities in the field.” ASM MATERIALS CAMP® FOR TEACHERS PARTICIPANT QUOTE: ASM MATERIALS CAMP® FOR STUDENTS PARTICIPANT QUOTE: DONOR APPRECIATION EVENT ASM Materials Education Foundation hosted its first Donor Appreciation Event in 2021. This exciting event featured two of our Master Teachers and showcased the hands-on, minds-on experiments just like our participants’ experience in ASM Materials Camp® for teachers and students. This informal celebration o ered the chance to participate in an experiment from the comfort of each guest’s home. The supplies for the lab experiments were mailed to homes in advance so guests could participate in the virtual event. ASM Materials Education Foundation continues to host cultivation events.
