The 2021 winner of the Pacesetter Award is Honda, whose R&D facility in central Ohio in particular has been a supporter of the ASM Materials Education Foundation for almost 20 years. Their consistent support has been critical to funding the ASM Materials Camp for teachers in Columbus. Honda also recently began to expand their support to other Materials Camps that overlap their footprint. The Kishor M. Kulkarni Distinguished High School Teacher Award was established through a generous donation by Dr. Kulkarni (past ASM Trustee) and his family to honor and recognize the accomplishments of a high school science teacher who has demonstrated a significant and sustained impact on pre-college age students. The candidate must be a full or part-time actively employed high school teacher in the U.S. or Canada, and any ASM member may forward a qualified application/nomination for consideration. Following the pandemic year (2020) when nominations for this award were put on hold, Dr. Kulkarni decided to grant two awards this year.
