LOUIS Plans are currently underway for Heat Treat 2021, scheduled for September 14-16 in St. Louis. We look for- ward to getting back to business and offering one of the first in-person heat treat industry events since the start of the global COVID-19 pandemic. This year’s Heat Treat conference and expo will fea- ture a new co-location with ASM’s annual meeting, Inter- national Materials, Applications, and Technologies (IMAT) Conference & Expo, as well as the North American Cold Spray Conference, organized by the ASM Thermal Spray Society. We will also continue our long-standing and suc- cessful co-location with AGMA’s Motion & Power Technolo- gy Expo (MPTE). These co-located conferences will provide Heat Treat attendees with more opportunities than ever before, including access to a diverse group of materials ex- perts and additional programming. The Heat Treat 2021 technical program will feature the latest research and development on a wide variety of important topics, including additive manufacturing, applied technology, atmosphere technology and surface engineering, process simulation, quenching technologies, residual stress, vacuum processes and technology, and much more! Our global speaker list currently includes par- ticipation from 15 countries. You won’t want to miss a special joint keynote ses- sion with IMAT 2021, “Opportunities in the Electrical Vehi- cle World,” featuring presentations from Dr. Paul Edwards from Tesla and Dr. James Boileau, metallurgist with Ele- ment Materials Technology and recently retired from the Ford Motor Company where he was the materials technical expert on electrified powertrain. Dr. Boileau will discuss how the transition to electrical vehicles will impact the GUEST DITORIAL heat treat industry and how to successfully adapt to ac- commodate these changes. Be sure to bring your business cards! The Heat Treat 2021 expo show floor continues to be the place to visit and network with more than 200 companies from the heat treating industry. The co-located conferences will offer ac- cess to an additional 350 exhibitors. Activities on the show floor will include a VIP guided industry tour on Tuesday, Solutions Center presentations, a Welcome Reception with exhibitors, and student activities. We hope you will join us in St. Louis! We know that things might look a little different this year. However, rest assured that your health and safety are always our top pri- orities, and the ASM team continues to closely monitor all federal, state, and local guidelines. We are confident that we can safely come together and are taking all appropri- ate measures to ensure a healthy and successful in-person conference and expo.
