FEATURE A D V A N C E D M A T E R I A L S & P R O C E S S E S | N O V E M B E R / D E C E M B E R 2 0 2 0 5 9 5 IMAT – THE VIRTUAL EDITION: PHOTO GALLERY OF HTS PRESENTATIONS When the inaugural International Materials, Appli- cations, & Technologies (IMAT) conference was cancelled this autumn, the ASM community sprung into action to create a virtual preview of what to expect next year. IMAT – The Virtual Edition, held October 26-28, included three days of presentations by all of ASM’s affiliate soci- eties, including the Heat Treating Society. There were two sessions focused on heat treating as well as a virtual tour of ASM’s Heat Treatment lab. Planning is already under- way for the next Heat Treat event in St. Louis, to be held September 14-16, 2021. Heat Treat 2021 will be co-located with IMAT 2021. IMAT VIRTUAL HIGHLIGHTS Dennis Beauchesne talks with Lesley Frame after her presen- tation on Flow Stress Materials Data as part of the Advanced Heat Treatment Research session. Attendees had questions for Patricia Jovičević-Klug after her presentation on Deep Cryogenic Treatment of Steels. Peter Kirbiš gave a talk on Annealing of Nanostructured Bainitic Steel for Improved Machinability during the Thermal Processing of Metals session. Mei Yang described some of the work being done at the Center for Heat Treating Excellence, Worcester Polytechnic Institute. A virtual tour of ASM’s state-of-the-art Heat Treatment Lab included a special demonstration of the Solar Mentor Vacuum Furnace.
