HEAT TREAT 2021: CALL FOR PAPERS NOW OPEN Planning is currently underway for the 31st Heat Treating Society Conference and Exposition (Heat Treat 2021), scheduled for September 14-16, 2021, in St. Lou- is, Missouri. This bi-annual, can’t-miss event provides an excellent opportunity for the heat-treating and materials community to meet, exchange information, and conduct business. Heat Treat has enjoyed many years of a successful co-location with the Motion & Power Technology Expo (for- merly Gear Expo), organized by the American Gear Manu- facturers Association. In 2021, we are excited that ASM’s Annual Meeting, International Materials, Applications, & Technologies Conference and Expo (IMAT 2021) will join the co-location. The three combined shows will offer a total of 750 technical presentations, keynotes, and work- shops, access to more than 500 exhibitors, and an expect- ed attendance of 7000-8000 people. Heat Treat 2021 continues to serve as the bridge be- tween research and industry. This year’s technical program committee did an excellent job of ensuring that the latest research and development is included on a wide variety of important topics, such as additive manufacturing/3D pro- cessing, induction heat treating, internet of things, vacuum processes and technology, applied technology, quenching and cooling, and much more. Special crossover keynotes and technical sessions with IMAT 2021 are also being plan- ned! Be sure to submit your abstract by January 14, 2021 to showcase your research and work in the technical pro- gram. Heat Treat authors may also be invited to submit to a special heat treat focus issue of JMEP. See page 52 for more details. In addition, Heat Treat 2021 will feature some friendly student competition during the Fluxtrol Student Research and HTS Strong Bar Competitions. Students will also be able to attend all programming offered during IMAT 2021, such as the Career Expo, Domes Day, etc. Heat Treat 2021 continues to be the best way to make contact, share information, and collaborate with attend- ees and exhibitors from around the world in the global heat-treating industry. Visit heattreatevent.org to submit an abstract or to obtain more information about exhibiting or sponsoring the conference. We look forward to seeing you next year in St. Louis.
