Coexisting within IMAT 2020, the NACS is well conceived by ASM. The event builds on the Thermal Spray Society’s (TSS) formula for success. TSS has a legacy of volunteers working together to inspire new individ- uals professionally while also providing the opportunity to reach for higher standards. Being around good people is just the right thing to do! If you dig deeper into the NACS Organizing Committee’s efforts, youwill see serious anddedicated speakers. This ongo- ing success has continued since the inception of the Thermal Spray Society — over 25 years ago! If Cold Spray is of interest to you, the event will update you on how the technology and applications are progressing and changing. Turn a few pages in this issue to find the NACS Show Preview and review the program details. Participation in this conference includes ded- icated representatives spanning India, Australia, Europe, and North America. Members of the NACS 2020 Organizing Committee include: • Jan Cizek, Brno University of Technology, Czech Republic • Reza Daroonparvar, ASB Industries, USA • Eric Irissou, National Research Council, Canada • Bertrand Jodoin, University of Ottawa, Canada • Charles Kay, ASB Industries, USA • Bill Lenling, TST Coatings, USA • André McDonald, University of Alberta, Canada • Luc Pouliot, Polycontrols Technologies, Canada • Peter Richter, Jr., Impact Innovations, Germany • Kumar Sridharan, University of Wisconsin, USA • Jeanelle Harden, ASM Staff Liaison, USA During a Committee meeting earli- er this year, AndréMcDonald, current TSS president and lead editor of our Journal of Thermal Spray Technology ( JTST ), pro- posed the idea of a special JTST issue focused on Cold Spray and based on content from this conference. The idea was swiftly accepted and seeing howmany Committee members “signed on” as re- viewers, the special issue is a go. The publication is scheduled to release in 2021. On another publication note, it takes a lot of effort to put together Advanced Materials & Processes magazine. Always dependent on noteworthy materials news, Joanne Miller and team manage to deal with the deadlines and high aspirations of putting together a broad subject materials information pe- riodical while pleasing the masses. Planning and deadlines are at the mercy of contributors. It’s not an easy task with the added strain from rapidly changing events. In fact, the written word in a publication can become quickly dated. At this writ- ing, the dynamics of theworld’s current health situation is a fo- cus and a concern. And it is an important topic for events such as NACS, as we plan the best way to deliver inspiring content andmake the efforts of many a success. May your Cold Spraying be with low oxygen content and very compact! Charles M. Kay, FASM NACS 2020 Co-Chair ASB Industries Inc.
