Kent Awarded NSF Grant Michelle Kent, a materials sci- ence major at Lehigh University, was awarded a National Science Founda- tion’s Graduate Research Fellowship (NSF GRF). Kent is in the 2019 Class of the P.C. Rosin College of Engineering and Applied Sciences. The NSF GRF recognizes students in STEM fields who are pursuing research-based masters and doctoral degrees. Fellows receive a three-year stipend of $34,000 plus a three-year $12,000 cost-of-education allowance paid to their respective institutions. Kent, a Mate- rial Advantage member, is starting a Ph.D. program in met- allurgy at Colorado School of Mines this fall. Bose Named to Royal Society of Chemistry Susmita Bose, FASM, the Herman and Brita Lindholm Endowed Chair Professor in the School of Mechanical and Materials Engineering at Washing- ton State University, has been named a fellow of the Royal Society of Chem- istry (RSC). The society is the oldest chemical society in the world and includes more than 54,000 members. The fellow designation indicates an outstanding contribution to the advancement of the chemi- cal sciences and a high level of accomplishment as a profes- sional chemist. Bose is known internationally for her work in using 3D printing technology to create bone-like materi- als and coatings for implants. She has published more than 240 technical papers and her work has been cited nearly 15,000 times.
