Gildersleeve, right, of Stony Brook University, is the 2018 winner of the Oerlikon Metco Young Professionals Competition for his paper “Process-Property Relationships of YSZ and GDZ Air Plasma Sprayed Thermal Barrier Systems Regarding CMAS Attack.” Richard Schmid of Oerlikon presented the award. More than 140 exhibitors were on hand to display their latest technology on the show floor. Attendees enjoy networking at the ITSC social event featuring strolling musicians and food trucks serving North American cuisine. THERMAL SPRAY HALL OF FAME INVITES NOMINATIONS The Thermal Spray Hall of Fame, established in 1993 by the Thermal Spray Society of ASM Internation- al, recognizes and honors outstanding leaders who have made significant contributions to the science, technology, practice, education, management, and advancement of thermal spray. Nominations are due Septem- ber 30, 2018, for recognition in 2019. IN MEMORIAM It is with deep sadness that we report the death of Rajan Bamola of Santa Fe Springs, Calif. Since 1993, he was president of Surface Modification Systems Inc., a consulting firm focused on ma- terials engineering and coatings research. Prior to that role, Bamo- la was VP and general manager at Turbine Metal Technology. He received a Ph.D. in materials engineering from Stony Brook University in 1992. For the last four years, Bamola served as iTSSe co-editor and occasionally wrote edito- rials for this publication. His contributions to iTSSe and the Society will be missed. Bamola 5
