CHAPTERS IN THE NEWS CHAPTERS IN THE NEWS Gujarat Hosts PIM Workshop The ASM Gujarat Chapter hosted a workshop on Pow- der Injection Molding (PIM2018) on March 16 at Plasma Induction Pvt. Ltd. in India. More than 60 participants attended the workshop conducted by Sundar Atre, profes- sor of mechanical engineering at the University of Louis- ville, Ky. The event, cosponsored by Xitiz Technomech LLP, focused on the powder metallurgy industry in Gujarat State and included lectures and demonstrations of a power sin- tering furnace. In addition, to promote membership among nonmember industries in the field, Chapter secretary Tejas Mehta made a presentation on the activities and member benefits of ASM International. MA Ryerson Cohosts Career Event The Material Advantage (MA) Chapter of Ryerson Uni- versity and Arcelor Mittal Dofasco Steel hosted a materials career meeting on March 7. Arcelor Mittal senior metallur- gist Shannon Clark and talent management coordinator Sarah Gee highlighted career opportunities in the steel industry for a packed audience of students. The meeting was organized by Chapter chair Eli Vandersluis, vice chair Payam Emadi, treasurer Zhi Li, secretary Bernoulli Andilab, and ambassador Nicholas Prabaharan. Ravi Ravindran, FASM, is the faculty advisor. A contingent from the ASM Dayton Chapter visited AK Steel’s Research and Innovation facility on February 27 for a dinner and tour of its new lab space. George Paraskos of AK Steel helped secure the arrangements. Dayton Visits AK Steel Utah Visits 3D Printer The ASM Utah Chapter toured the WhiteClouds 3D printing facility in Ogden last September. The tour provided a fascinating overview of additive manufacturing capabili- ties in medical applications, architecture, and games. The event drew attendees ranging in age from 6 to 93.
