He quickly climbed the ladder within R&D with a promotion to group leader of materials conversion in April 2018 and again to manager of mate- rials R&D in August 2020. Rothleutner received his master’s degree in 2012 and his Ph.D. in 2015 in metallurgi- cal and materials engineering from the Advanced Steel Processing and Products Research Center at the Colorado School of Mines. His research experience includes nearly all aspects of steel heat treatment, fatigue, mechanical testing, alloy design, corrosion, and fusion welding. Roth- leutner is an active member of the ASM Heat Treating So- ciety, serving as a member on the technical and program- ming committees. He is a registered professional engineer with the state of Ohio since December 2019 and a veteran of the U.S. Coast Guard (2000-2005). Jeff Fuller is manager of process quality for Amsted Rail Brenco, a large manufacturer of tapered roller bear- ings with extensive captive heat-treat- ing facilities. During his career, Fuller has helped to establish heat treating operations and metallurgical lab- oratories around the globe. He has experience in ferrous heat treating, carburizing, specialty steelmaking, iron casting, tool steels, aerospace titanium, nondestruc- tive testing, and consumer products manufacture. Fuller is a past chairman of the board of directors for the Center for Heat Treat Excellence at Worcester Polytechnic Institute and is chairman of ASTM subcommittee A01.28 for Bearing and Power Transmission Steels. He is a two-time contrib- utor to the ASM Handbook series. Fuller received a B.S. in materials engineering from Virginia Tech, and a master of arts degree from Southeastern Baptist Theological Semi- nary. He holds certification from ASQ as a quality engineer and holds a license as a professional engineer from the Commonwealth of Virginia. Fred Hamizadeh is the director of manufacturing services at Amer- ican Axle & Manufacturing AAM. He received his B.S. in mechanical en- gineering from University of Toledo. Hamizadeh started his career in the heat treat industry at Williams Indus- trial Service in 1988, as a designer and later as an engineer. He then spent HEAT TREATING SOCIETY NEWS 4 HTS NAMES NEW BOARD MEMBERS FOR 2021 The Heat Treating Society (HTS) board, at the rec- ommendation of the HTS Awards and Nominations Com- mittee, named new officers including Benjamin Bernard to serve as vice president and Deidra Minerd to serve as secretary for the 2021-2023 term; new board members, Lee Rothleutner and Allen J. Fuller to serve on the HTS Board for the 2021-2024 term; Fred Hamizadeh will serve a second term during 2021-2024. Carlos Torres will serve as emerging professional board member for the 2021- 2022 term; and Rodolfo Canales Garcia will serve a sec- ond term as student board member for the 2021-2022 term. Terms begin October 1. Continuing on the board are, Chuck Faulkner (member), Steve Ferdon (member) Marc Glasser (member), Robert Madeira (member), and Doug Puerta (member). Eric Hutton becomes past presi- dent and Lesley Frame becomes president on October 1. Leaving the board are Jim Oakes (past president), Robert Cryderman (secretary), and Michael Brant (emerging pro- fessional board member). Benjamin Bernard is the vice president, Global Sales for Surface Combustion Inc. He has a bachelor of science in materials science and engi- neering from Michigan Technological University. He manages international and domestic sales and marketing ac- tivities for Surface Combustion and is actively engaged with heat treat pro- cess development. Bernard has been an activemember of ASM and the Heat Treating Society. He was the ASM student chapter lead from 2000-2002, partici- pated in ASM strategic planning in 2008, served as the ASM HTS Young Professional Board Member from 2012-2013, hosted a Materials Camp during Surface Combustion’s 100-year anniversary in 2015, acted as expo committee co- chair and planned ASM HTS Heat Treat Mexico in 2016 and 2020, and has been an ASM HTS Board member since 2017. Deidra Minerd is the operations manager at the Euclid Heat Treating Company in Cleveland, a family- owned commercial heat treater pro- viding heat treat services ranging from vacuum processing to induction hardening. She served as cost esti- mator for 18 years and has spent five years in her current role as operations manager. She is amember of the Cleveland Chapter of ASM and is starting her second term on the HTS Board.
